Travel around Russia with International Schools!
Additional Program is a 5-day trip to Moscow and St. Petersburg with a group tutor to discover Russian landmarks, big cities and cultural heritage. Program includes train tickets, accommodation, excursions, guide tours and tickets to museums upon agenda. The Additional Program is a great opportunity to travel around Russia and experience Russian rich culture together with international students and local tutors. The 5-day program consists of one day in Moscow, three days in St. Petersburg and one free day in St. Petersburg for departure (the hostel is booked till 12:00). All movements between cities are carried out on fast trains. Students voyage to Moscow on a night train from Samara for 13-14 hours. Students are accommodated in a 4-place compartment. Hot water, linen, lavatory, towel are available. Train arrives at Kazansky railway station in the morning and students are supposed to lock baggage at Leningradsky railway station in front of it. Train to St. Petersburg ‘Sapsan’ departs in the evening from Moscow. ‘Sapsan’ is a high speed electric express train (carriages with seats). Travel time is 4-4.5 hours. Students arrive to St. Petersburg at night and come to the hostel on foot (travel time is 10-15 minutes). Train tickets are included in the additional program fee. Baggage storage charges and personal expenses in the train are not included in the fee.
The first location to stay is the capital of Russia. Moscow is the largest and the most populous city in Russia and Europe. First documented in 1147, Moscow grew to become a prosperous and powerful city. In accordance with the program, students attend the sightseeing tour of Moscow with stops on the main sights of the city such as Red Square, Zaryadye Park, Lomonosov State University and Sparrow Hills, Moscow International Business Center and other locations. The tour duration is around 3.5-4 hours. The professional guide and group tutor of the international schools team accompany students. Free time for personal deals will be provided after the end of the tour. Meal, public transport costs, souvenirs and individual expenses are not included in the fee.
Saint Petersburg is the second largest city in Russia and the Russian’s cultural center. The city was the capital of the Russian Empire in 1714-1918. St. Petersburg has a unique architecture, a variety of museums and art residences, historical places and palaces. Students are supposed to visit the city tour with a guide and explore the main sights such as Palace Square, Nevsky Prospekt, Church of the Savior on Blood, Peter and Paul Fortress, Old Saint Petersburg Stock Exchange and Rostral Columns etc. The second day (summer period) is dedicated to the trip to Peterhof with a visit to the Peterhof Palace, garden, park, the Gulf of Finland and students are free to overlook a drawbridge at night with a group tutor. Students come to the tour along channels of St. Petersburg and visit the Hermitage or Faberge Museum on the third day. The fourth day is a departure day. Group tutor assists students during their stay in the city and he/she will be pleased to advise students places for walking, eating, souvenir stores, tickets to ballet in the theaters and so on.
Students live in a modern hostel in the city center of St. Petersburg. Students reside with representatives of the same sex. The main attractions, cafes, souvenir shops, pharmacies, shopping malls, supermarkets and public transport stops are accessible on foot. Meals are not included in the fee. Students are supposed to opt for a place to eat themselves. Group tutor will be pleased to give an advise to students about any issues.
Be aware that there are long distances and touristic routes in St. Petersburg so comfortable footwear, clothes and headgear are preferable. Due to unstable weather in winter and summer, it is recommended to bring an umbrella, raincoat and warm clothes. According to the additional program and excursions’ schedule, students will have free time for private affairs and buying souvenirs. Please pay attention that students are supposed to depart home from St. Petersburg (Pulkovo airport/railway station). Return flight tickets to students’ home countries, public transport costs, buying souvenirs and personal expenses are not included in the fee.
