VOLGA CRUISE TO RUSSIAN VILLAGE

No doubt that study courses are great, but all students need a rest! Today it was a day-off for participants of Robotics and Mechatronics summer school. And where you can have a good time with friends, like in nature! You can't come to Russia and not visit a Russian village! Therefore, today, on August 4, participants of Robotics and Mechatronics along with volunteers made a real cruise to the village nammed Shiryaevo. Everything was unusual, from what kind of ransport our travelers gor there, ending with a visit to the galleries which in Russian are called "shtol'ni". Here is the route of this day.

At early morning our participants set off the passenger ship "Moscow". Two hours of unforgettable cinversations, photo shoots on the backgroend of the Volga landscapes flew by, and we came to Shiryaevo! It is located on th right side of the Volga river within the Zhigulevsky reserve, in a wide valley near the Zhigulevsky mountains.

The first place where participants went with the guide was the observation deck on Popov mountain, which offers stunning views of the entire valley, the village and the Monastery mountain. Up ahead, where the Volga river tirns to the right and disappears behind a hill, the river has washed away the rocks and made its way. This place is called Zhiguli gate. Once the width of the river in this place was only 400 meters.

The most unusual place for students of summer schools turned out to be shtol'ni. It is a horizontal underground mine with direct access to the surface. Its penetration is possible on the site with a sufficiently dissected relief. Galleries in Shiryaevo shallow, you can't get lost in them. But it is pleasant to hide here from thirty-degree heat. You can relax from the heat of the day and gain strength. The main thing is not to overdo it, and not to catch a cold. The temperature inside is about +5 degrees.

In Shiryaevo there is a Museum complex, including the house-museum of the artist Ilys Repin, the house-museum of the poet A.V. Shiryaevtsa, the museum-estate of the merchant I. Vdovin. In the house-museum of Repin, the participants could feel the atmosphere of Russian life and see the process of a masterpiece creating - the painting "Boatmen on the Volga".
