Rushnik, uryl'nik, martenichki… Participants of “Russian language and culture” program now know that it is not just incomprehensible Russian words, but something which our ancestors could not imagine life without.
On August 17, students of the school "Russian language and culture" visited the Museum of ethnographic life "Native antiquity". The museum holds the exhibitions of folk costumes of different provinces of Russia "Russian gems" and traditional folk dolls "Dolls from my grandmother's chest", as well as the exhibition "Our old apartment. Life of the Soviet period".
“Now I understand Russian culture and Russian soul!” – said one of the students.
After a sightseeing tour of the Museum, students were given a master class on making a traditional ritual folk doll "Martenichki". The doll played an important role in the life of the Russian person from birth. According to their purpose, dolls were divided into three groups: amulet, ritual and game. Talisman dolls were amulets that brought good luck and did so that difficulties are avoided. Ritual dolls were used during ceremonies and holidays. Play dolls were meant to amuse children.
Doll "Martenichki" is the ceremonial doll that was made by the ancestors when they kept the feast of spring with winter meeting. Two dolls are tied together: white is the symbol of winter, red is a symbol of spring. It is believed that if you carry them with you, you will be lucky.
A nice bonus for students was a photo shoot in folk costumes, everyone was satisfied with the trip! The whole Instagram was filled with bright stories!
