Someone told that museums are the unique places which could help you travel not just around the territories but through the years! Team of International Schools included museums with different exhibitions in the program of international schools. Participants visited Museum of aviation and cosmonautics, Aircraft Engines History Center, Smart House of butterflies, Samara Railway Station Museum, University's Studying Airfield and the Ethnographic museum of Russian life.
We would like to tell in this article about a trip to the Ethnographic museum of Russian life in the middle of the 19th - early 20th centuries “Native antiquity", which is located in School No.3 of Samara. The museum was opened on 27 of February 2007 and the first exhibition was about Russian ancestors' way of life. Museum room is designed as a Russian hut, all exhibits are real and came from citizens. The room shows the kitchen part of the house where you can find a table, benches, a stove, which also was used as a bed. The next part of the hut is a place for knitting and a place for men. Around the hut there was a yard and the visitors can also see this part of the exhibition.
After more than fifteen years of existing, the museum became wider and opened new exhibitions such as “Our old apartment” (Life of city in the beginning of 20th century), “Dolls from a grandmother’s chest” (Traditional Russian dolls which ancestors were playing with), “They see who is walking by the dress” (Traditional Russian women and men suits), “Our old flat” (Another room which shows the Russian way of life in Soviet period).
Museum holds not just excursions but also a master class on making traditional Russian dolls. Participants of International School took part in a master class of making a traditional ritual doll “Martenichki” which has become for them one of the souvenirs from Russia! After this day students from China said that they understood the Russian soul better.
