LIVE INTERACTIVE MEETING “RUSSIAN HERITAGE” IS DONE

The International Schools Department hosted international students from China, Malaysia, Philippines, India and Thailand on a free virtual program “Russian Heritage” on 12-13 March, 2024. The program is dedicated to the exploration of traditions, culture, nature, and customs of Russia and everyday life of citizens. The meeting included three modules - presentation “Russian Heritage”, quiz game about Russia and online master class on knitting Russian dolls martenichki.

The first day was an intense day with two activities. The presentation “Russian Heritage” was a fantastic opportunity to cover 9 topics about the biggest country in the world and learn hundreds of new facts! Attendees discovered main facts about Russia and Samara University, country’s contrasts, natural treasures, peculiarities of citizens, traditional cuisine, dances and songs, winter and summer activities and key facts about Russian language.

The most impressive part of the first day was a quiz game about Russia! So students could check out their knowledge gained in the presentation and guessed the answers on the online interactive platform. Five players with the most correct answers won remarkable prizes from the International Schools Department and received it via mail.

The second day was a creative online meeting with a master class on knitting Russian ancient dolls martenichki. Participants made their dolls step by step with the guidance of the International Schools Team. The master class is a wonderful opportunity to create your own souvenir from Russia with love! Martenichki dolls in Russian folklore symbolize the end of winter (the white doll) and welcoming spring (the red doll). Particularly noted, the program was conducted in a pancake week (Maslenitsa) in Russia that means the welcoming spring season.

Attendees mentioned that it was a funny experience to virtually meet with Russia and spend two days with the International Schools Team.
