Students of Russian Language and Culture summer school kept on to meet with Russian way of life and Samara's sightseeings with visit to the Railway Museum.
Railway transport is a popular mean of transportation for Russian citizens. It is a cheap and comfortable way to move to the destination. However, modern trains and locomotives differ from their ancient predecessors. Exhibits of old trains, commuter trains, freight trains, bulk cargos, locomotives, steam trains, diesel locomotives, old Siberian train station are presented in the Volga Museum of Railway.
Students of Russian Language and Culture Summer school continued to explore Russian and Soviet means of transportation on 21st July, 2023. Participants relocated to the railway museum right after the tour on the training airfield of Samara University. The excursion included the visit to the old wooden Siberian railway station Dashkovo, tour around old Russian trains, visit carriagies of commuter, passenger and cargo trains. Students came inside even the driver's cab! The guide told the history of railway development in Russian Empire, USSR and Russia, the formation of railway in Samara region and the modern elaboration of trains.
At the end of the tour, students were lucky to ring the bell. The number of bells has different defintion in Russia. One bell means the boarding, two bells means the end of the boarding and three bells signify the the train's departure. So 1, 2, 3... and the Summer schools train departures to the new adventures!
